Where spacing between openings is less than three times the diameter, effective opening outlines govern the required reinforcing layout. Each condition requires one number 5 top and bottom added trim bar placed all around the effective opening and extending 1 foot 6 inches beyond the opening on each side. Diagonal reinforcing bars are omitted for these closely spaced configurations. Minimum clearances and dimensions dictate the transition between varying opening diameters.
