A wide flange buckling-restrained braced frame beam and a non-braced frame beam connect to a wide flange column flange using an erection plate matching the beam web thickness and optional erection bolts. A gusset plate sized per the manufacturer connects to one side of the beam web, maintaining a clearance between two and a half to three and a half inches with a one-inch vertical clearance. Continuous plates or cap plates match the thickness of the braced frame beam flange. Complete-joint-penetration welds secure the beam web and the top and bottom of the connection at the top of the column condition.
