A steel column extends upward from a steel base plate set upon one and a half inches of non-shrink grout atop a concrete foundation wall and footing. A concrete blockout surrounds the base plate assembly at the exterior slab or grade transition. Anchor bolts secure the base plate into the foundation wall, and a five-sixteenths fillet weld connects the column base to the plate.
