Metal deck support framing around a hollow structural section steel column requires supplemental structural steel angles when the gap dimension exceeds three inches. The deck supplier must provide required deck supports and closures around the column. Additional L3x3x3/16 angles are placed on each side as typical details where beams do not occur, matching the column length. Three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the steel angle supports to the supporting members.
