Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to the web and flanges of a steel beam sized per plan. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld attaches the stiffener plates typically unless noted otherwise. Plates extend as required for connections and are subject to larger plate and weld sizes when mandated by the beam connection schedule.
