An HSS beam connects to the web of a wide flange structural shape using a one-half inch thick plate and matching stiffener plates on each side of the web. Five-sixteenth inch fillet welds join the stiffener plates to the wide flange web along three sides. A complete joint penetration weld secures the plate to the wide flange flange. A closure plate welds the HSS beam to the wide flange flange per standard details. Continuity plate connections for frame HSS beams are referenced separately on sheet two dash S three point one two.
