The hollow structural section beam bears on top of the hollow structural section post, stabilized by a half-inch haunch plate welded beneath the connection with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Additional plate stiffeners are welded to the post and haunch plate. The assembly aligns with the center line of the structural steel members and establishes the top-of-steel elevation as sized per plan.
