A wide-flange beam or channel frames into a hollow structural section column using a bolted shear connection with the number and size of bolts sized per plan. A cap plate is welded to the top of the hollow structural section column with a quarter-inch fillet weld. A one-half-inch dimension indicates plate thickness or clearance. Plan symbol references identify the connection orientation.
