A four-inch thick timber stair tread is supported by an HSS 12x8x1/4 structural steel stringer with an HSS standoff matching the stringer profile. A three-quarter by six-inch steel plate is recessed into the underside of the timber tread as required. Eight three-inch HeadLok screws at four-inch gauge secure the timber tread from below through the steel plate. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld connects the standoff to the HSS stringer.
