A structural steel column connects to a thick grade fifty base plate anchored by ten one-and-three-quarter-inch diameter Grade one-hundred-and-five anchor bolts set in five-sixteenth-inch oversized holes. Square washer plates are placed over the anchor bolts and left unwelded. The column flange is welded to the base plate using a complete joint penetration double-bevel weld. The assembly bears on a two-inch high-strength grout layer above the top of the foundation. An embedment plate matching the base plate profile is tied to the anchor bolts thirty-six inches below the foundation top.
