A structural steel column bears on a steel base plate with a thickness specified per design, set over a layer of non-shrink grout. Anchor bolts embedded in the concrete foundation secure the plate using heavy duty washers with standard-sized holes over oversized holes in the base plate. The contractor provides and coordinates means of leveling and elevation control. Column bearing elevations and specific anchor bolt sizes are referenced on the structural drawings and schedules.
