This structural steel connection details a typical shear plate framing a beam to a wide flange column flange. A shear plate of thickness determined per schedule is shop welded to the column flange or supporting element, with field welds joining the plate to the supported beam web. A vertical line of bolts spaced at three inches on center secures the beam web to the shear plate, accompanied by washers as required. A typical one-half inch gap is maintained between the beam end and the column face. Bolt sizing, spacing, and quantities conform to project schedule parameters.
