A wide-flange beam frames into a wide-flange girder at an offset elevation, utilizing a bolted shear plate connection to the girder web. A full-height three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plate is welded to the girder web with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on each face. The top flange of the supported beam is notched with a rounded corner detail to accommodate the vertical step-up, maintaining a maximum one-half-inch offset from the face of the girder web. Shear plate and bolt sizes are sized per typical wide-flange beam connection details.
