This structural section details a reinforced concrete elevator pit with a slab on grade and thickened foundation walls. The pit features number 6 reinforcing bars spaced at twelve inches top and bottom in the base, with number 6 bars each way on each side unless otherwise noted. A construction joint with a one-quarter-inch amplitude roughened profile is placed at the wall base interface. Shear wall dowels tie the vertical concrete shear wall to the foundation, and mat reinforcement is provided per plan with standard development lengths.
