The supported steel beam frames into a supporting steel beam via a seated connection. A plate matching the beam flange thickness and width is slotted to receive the beam web, extending a minimum depth of six inches with a horizontal distance of 1.75 times the flange width. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are centered at the web of the supported beam on both sides and welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325N bolts secure the connection on beam gauges, with one near-side and one far-side bolt. The supporting beam web includes three-eighths-inch stiffener plates on both sides.
