Cold-formed steel wall studs and headers are framed with track sections. Type B boxed headers utilize two C-sections nested within top and bottom tracks, secured with number 10 sheet metal screws at 12 inches on center on each side of the header and each side of the stud. Type A track headers utilize a single track section. The header assembly connects to vertical jamb studs using clip angles and track connectors as specified in detail 7, with clip angles omitted at the top for Type A headers. Cripple studs are installed above the header, maintaining a 3-inch minimum distance from the top and bottom to the nearest punch-out in the jamb stud.
