A wide-flange steel beam frames into a steel column using a bolted shear tab connection. A concrete slab over a steel deck bears on the top flange of the beam and interfaces with the column flange. A one-quarter inch closure plate is positioned below the slab edge, secured with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds typical. Stiffener plates are welded to the steel column web aligned with the beam flanges.
