An HSS6x4 separator beam connects to a concrete elevator pit wall via a structural steel angle and an embedded plate. The concrete wall is anchored with two three-quarter-inch diameter welded studs. An L8x6x1/2 angle supports the HSS member, secured with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld with a three-inch minimum length. A three-sixteenth-inch weld connects the HSS to the angle. The connection transfers structural loads from the separator beam directly into the elevator pit wall embed plate.
