About this detail

An elevated concrete slab bears on an eight-inch concrete masonry unit wall. The slab consists of two and a half inches of hardrock concrete over the flutes of a two-inch by twenty-gauge Verco PLB-36 Formlok Deck or equal, for a total thickness of four and a half inches, reinforced with 6x6-W1.4xW1.4 welded wire fabric placed one inch clear from the top of the slab. The concrete masonry unit wall is reinforced with two number four top and bottom continuous bars, though top bars are omitted where dimension d is twelve inches or less. Number four dowels are spaced at twenty-four inches on center, typically at both top and bottom, with a fifteen-inch minimum lap where a single one-piece bar is provided if the minimum lap is not possible. Alternate hooks are detailed at the slab connection, and dowels are embedded to at least the center of the slab.
