A concrete slab on grade bears directly on top of a concrete wall with a thickened edge typical of one foot unless noted otherwise. Reinforcing steel ties the slab into the wall head with bent dowels extending down the wall core. The concrete slab features internal reinforcing mesh or bars positioned above a formed haunch at the wall interface. A three-inch dimension marks the vertical placement of the horizontal wall reinforcement.
