A steel beam frames into a steel column with a steel cap plate sized per the column schedule. A beam web stiffener or beam web connection plate is provided on each side, welded to the cap plate with quarter-inch fillet welds. The beam web connects to the stiffener plate using four-bolt fasteners. Additional quarter-inch fillet welds secure the cap plate assembly.
