A structural steel beam per plan connects to a hollow structural section post using a bolted shear tab welded to the web. Top and bottom L3x3x1/4 seat angles, seven inches long typically, provide vertical support at the top and bottom flanges. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the seat angles typical to the hollow structural section post.
