A pipe penetrates the concrete foundation wall and grade beam centered inside a five-inch sleeve, maintaining a one-inch clearance all around. One number five by twenty-four-inch reinforcing bar is placed above and below the sleeve within the foundation wall and grade beam. Pipes are prohibited from passing through footings or grade beams directly. Footings are thickened where the pipe is less than twenty-four inches below the bottom of the footing, extending a minimum of one foot on each side of the sleeve.
