A continuous wide-flange beam connects to a supporting column using a three-quarter-inch base plate fastened with four three-quarter-inch-diameter A325N bolts typically unless noted otherwise. One-half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. The web and flanges receive minimum welds per American Institute of Steel Construction specifications. The connection adapts to either a wide-flange column or a hollow structural section column sized per plan.
