A concrete footing or grade beam is poured directly into a neat excavation against earth. The subgrade is prepared per the geotechnical report with a footing width sized per plan plus two inches. Two-inch planking acts as a curb where required, with formwork prohibited below grade unless fully formed. Stakes are not permitted within the footing or grade beam section. After the concrete sets, the top pour is cleaned to remove laitance and scum.
NOTES: 1. STAKES ARE NOT PERMITTED WITHIN FOOTING OR GRADE BEAM SECTION. 2. FOUNDATION CONCRETE MAY BE PLACED DIRECTLY INTO NEAT EXCAVATIONS PROVIDED THE FOUNDATION TRENCH WALLS ARE STABLE AS DETERMINED BY THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER. THE MINIMUM FORMWORK SHOWN IS MANDATORY TO ENSURE CLEAN EXCAVATIONS IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO AND DURING CONCRETE PLACEMENT.
