A concrete masonry unit wall and concrete panel connection incorporates embed plates and steel angles. The upper assembly features a 3/8-inch by 8-inch by 8-inch embed plate tied to #5 reinforcing bars, 32 inches long, centered on the plate. A 1/2-inch by 4-inch strap is bent as required, and the joint edge is detailed with equal spacing dimensions. The lower corner assembly utilizes an 8-inch by 8-inch by 1/2-inch structural angle, two feet six inches long, connecting the concrete elements. Wire mesh is tack-welded to the steel and subsequently filled with non-shrink grout after welding. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the embed plate assembly typical.
