All slab reinforcement continues uninterrupted through the control joint. The control joint spans across the profiled metal deck which spans in either direction with lap length Ld. Additional slab reinforcing bars are spaced at 12 inches on center with sizes varying by slab depth D: number 3 bars for depths up to 2.5 inches, number 4 bars for depths between 2.5 and 4.75 inches, and number 5 bars for depths greater than 4.75 inches.
