A reinforced concrete mat slab bears on a structural pile with vertical pile reinforcement extending fifteen inches into the mat slab. Additional bottom reinforcing bars are provided to either side of the vertical pile reinforcement in both directions. The slab features number eight slab reinforcement throughout. A one-inch thick isolation joint material separates the steam plant foundation and trench from the reinforced concrete pit wall, which is installed by others. The top of concrete is set to elevation eleven feet zero inches.
