A seven and a half inch deep open web steel joist bears onto a structural steel beam and steel girder framing system. A metal roof deck spans across the top chords with a half inch clearance gap between adjacent framing sections. Field welds with a quarter inch fillet size are specified typically at the bearing interface. A tie plate connection across the top chord is referenced to detail A5 on sheet S701.
