An open web steel joist bears directly on the supporting structural member below a steel deck. Steel cross-bridging is provided by the joist supplier and welded in place with typical fillet welds. The steel deck sits atop the assembly and is secured with typical puddle welds spaced at twelve inches on center. Weld sizes are specified as one-eighth inch and three-sixteenth inch typical throughout the connection.
