A steel beam frames into a steel column topped with a steel cap plate, secured using a full depth beam connection plate or full depth beam web stiffener plate. A metal roof deck bears directly on top of the steel framing members. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size are specified typically on three sides of the connection plate and at the cap plate interface.
