A reinforced concrete grade beam features continuous longitudinal reinforcing bars located at the top and bottom with a typical two-inch clearance. A full-width formed key is positioned at the mid-depth of the footing, with a height of one-third the footing depth up to a maximum of ten inches and a minimum depth of one and one-half inches.
