A structural steel beam-to-beam drag connection is centered on a column line and uses a Grade 50 plate measuring three-quarters by five inches by three feet six inches long across the top flanges. A three-inch wide plate is substituted where the flange width is less than six inches. The top plate is secured with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds spaced at twelve inches, left unwelded across the beam face per standard connection details. Framing beams connect to the supporting member web using bolted shear tabs detailed on a separate sheet with typical one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides.
