An HSS beam connects to an HSS girder using perimeter welds specified by size in an accompanying schedule. Fillet welds join the beam to the girder wall, with weld t1 applied at the top and bottom flanges. Weld t2 is applied when the beam depth is shallower than the flat dimension of the support. The accompanying beam connection schedule provides specific weld sizes t1 and t2 for various HSS beam sizes.
