Steel W-beams frame into opposite sides of a hollow structural section column using bolted shear connections sized per schedule. A bearing plate sits atop the column to support the roof deck system above. A vertical stabilizer plate is welded inside or against the column web for internal reinforcement. The roof deck spans across the top flange of the column, with sizing and attachment specified per schedule.
