A structural beam bears above an HSS post with a one-inch gap maintained between the members. Two L6x3 1/2x5/16x0'6" long-legs-vertical angles attach to each side of the HSS post using three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts in two-inch vertical slotted holes to allow movement. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size connect the angles with a four-inch minimum length typical. An elevation rail support by others is integrated below.
