A hollow structural section beam frames into a steel column with typical 4-by-4-by-1/4-inch angle clips measuring 6 inches long at the top and bottom. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the angle clips to both the beam and the column. A maximum one-half-inch clearance is maintained at the joint. A perpendicular hollow structural section beam connects at a similar steel column condition.
