A hollow structural section beam is concealed within a concrete masonry unit wall and supported by a one-half-inch continuous cap plate welded with a typical five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld at four to twelve inches spacing. Dowel bars match the vertical wall reinforcing and all cells within eight inches of the hollow structural section are solid grouted. A loose lintel angle is positioned below the masonry veneer and welded with a typical three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld at two to twelve inches spacing.
