This assembly facilitates movement between adjacent roof joists using a pair of L8x4x7/16 angles, each one foot three inches long, connected with two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. The bolts are installed finger-tight with scored threads to allow for thermal expansion and contraction. One angle features three-inch long slotted holes in its vertical leg to accommodate movement, while the opposing angle utilizes standard holes. The angles are welded to the joist top chords with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. This slip joint assembly is spaced at six feet on center. The overlapping roof deck must remain unattached to the assembly to prevent binding during movement.
