Reinforcing bars are arranged with staggered splices over the length of the splice zone. Transverse reinforcement consists of number 4 bars spaced at nine inches on center over the splice length. Cross sections show reinforcement configured in two layers as well as one layer. Number 5 bars are placed at the tie corners.
