A concrete topping slab connects at its perimeter to a primary structural slab, wall, or beam. Number 4 dowels at two feet zero inches in length are drilled and epoxied at forty-eight inches on center around the perimeter, or cast-in dowels are used at post-tensioned slabs. Reinforcing is placed at one-third the depth from the top of the slab per the structural table, with control joints installed per standard slab-on-grade details. Waterproofing, insulation, and additional architectural layers are applied per the architectural plans over the structural concrete or concrete on steel deck.
