A wide-flange column connects to a heavy A572-50 base plate with a thickness of 3 inches, supported on a 2-inch grout layer over a concrete slab. Four 1 3/4-inch diameter A722 threaded reinforcing bars anchor the assembly, secured with matching nuts and A572-50 washer plates measuring 1x4x0'4". The base plate extends as required where a gusset occurs, welded with complete joint penetration demand critical welds at the flange and web. Additional field-welded threaded studs are detailed per schedule alongside an embed plate measuring 3/4x16x1'-4" by others. A base plate schedule provides specific plate sizes ranging from 1 1/4x12x1'-0" to 1 3/4x14x1'-2" for various W10 and W12 column sizes.
