Two MC13x31.8 channels are positioned back-to-back with a 1-5/8 inch gap containing heavy hex nuts for the tension rod connection. A 1 inch by 9-5/8 inch end plate is welded to the assembly with a 5/16 inch fillet weld on three sides. Plywood framing is attached to each channel flange using eight 1/4 inch by 3 inch self-drilling wood screws spaced at 3 inches on center.
