A braced frame connection at a wide-flange beam supports an HSS column and an HSS diagonal brace. A one-half-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 gusset plate connects the HSS brace to the top flange of the WF beam, detailed with fifteen-sixteenth-inch maximum diameter holes provided at the contractor's option for erection. A one-quarter-inch thick full-height web stiffener is welded to both sides of the beam web beneath the column base plate using one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. The HSS column and HSS brace sizes are per elevation, while the WF beam is sized per plan.
