An eighteen-inch diameter circular concrete column cross-section is reinforced with vertical bars and spiral or hoop ties. The assembly provides three inches of concrete clearance to the outer reinforcement ring. Two tie schedules are designated: ties type A spaced at four and a half inches, and ties type B spaced at nine inches. A lap splice length denoted as Lsb is specified for the vertical reinforcement bars.
