Steel joists bear on a steel girder with a 3/8-inch by 3-inch wide by 6-long splice plate connecting the top chords. Two 1/2-inch diameter A325 erection bolts are provided at all joists spanning 40 feet or more. A girder bottom chord brace is supplied by the joist or girder supplier typically located at the joist mid-span of the girder. Steel deck spans across the top of the joists.
