Reinforcing bars are lapped using the non-contact lap splice method with a minimum of two inches and a maximum of six inches clear between bars, maintaining a minimum splice length of forty inches for number five bars. Vertical spacing between laps occurs no closer than eighteen inches on center. Steel soldier piles are shown, applicable to piers. Waterproofing and drainage are omitted for clarity.
