A hollow structural section beam frames into the edge of a concrete slab or concrete beam using a three-eighths-by-four-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. The connection utilizes two three-quarter-inch-diameter A449 through bolts. The concrete slab edge features an embed plate measuring half-inch by eight inches by zero-foot-eight inches with two three-quarter-inch-diameter by six-inch studs at a six-inch gauge. Two additional number four reinforcing bars are placed at four-inch spacing spanning two feet into the slab edge.
