Metal deck panels bear on structural steel beams with attachment specified per the structural schedule. At intermediate bearings, the deck attaches directly to the typical steel beam flange. Lap joints feature welds through both deck sheets into the beam flange, accompanied by shear studs where applicable. Butt joints without fill maintain minimum bearing requirements on the support flange. Deck direction changes incorporate a light gauge metal closure angle to transition between orthogonal profiles.
