An open-web steel joist with a flush manufacturer connection frames into a WT-5x15 shape on each side of a steel column, coordinated with the joist manufacturer. A structural steel column receives a quarter-inch by six-inch plate on each face welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. Angles measuring 6x6x1/2 span the column width on each side to support the metal roof deck. Web stiffeners and web stiffeners beyond are provided at the column connection points. A bolted wide-flange beam connects to the opposite face of the column with matching web stiffeners.
